Laboratory

photoAVCI's in-house laboratory is fully equipped. From a simple fecal exam to the more complex procedure of detecting mycotoxins, we are capable of producing on-the-spot results.

Equipped with a video microscope, all microscopic examinations are in full view. Mites can be seen wriggling on display while our technician proceeds through with the other tests.

Using a semi-automated chemistry machine and a visible spectrophotometer, blood values of ALT, BUN, creatinine, glucose, sodium, potassium, etc. are immediately obtained. We also have a reflectance photometer to immediately check hemoglobin values. All of these parameters are important and contribute to the accuracy of a diagnosis, and to the success of a treatment.

urineA urinalysis machine is used for the better evaluation of a urine sample. Sediments are examined, while 10 urine parameters are quantitatively measured.

Microscopic examination is a skilled expertise our staff can provide. Reading of a vaginal cytology, examining a skin specimen, tracing fungal hyphae on hairs, to detecting microfilariae; these are the things we love to do.

A new division of our laboratory is the MYCOTOXICOLOGY SECTION. We now have the capacity to detect the following mycotoxins – aflatoxin B1, T-2 toxin, vomitoxin and zearalenone. These toxins may be present in pet foods and livestock feeds.

Our SEROLOGY SECTION is very extensive. From viral diseases of dogs to reading of antibody titers in pigs, we can now do them all. The following are the serological tests we perform:

Canine

  • Antigen test
    1. Distemper
    2. Parvovirus
    3. Heartworm
    4. Rabies
    5. Giardia
  • Antibody test
    1. Ehrlichia

Poultry

  • Antigen test
    1. Newcastle Disease (ND)
  • Antibody test
    1. Infectious Bronchitis (IB)
    2. Infectious Bursal Disease (IBD)
    3. Newcastle Disease (ND)

Swine

  • Antigen test
    1. Hog Cholera
    2. Parvovirus
    3. Rotavirus
